Introduction to Computers

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS                                            (10 HOURS)

This is a good starting point for people who already have a basic understanding of what computers can do and how they are used but would like to learn more. This 5 evening course will provide the following:

Night 1 & 2: Intro to Windows 7/8 & Office 2013

A hands-on exploration of Windows 7 that includes basic Windows terminology, file management using Windows Explorer, working the Windows 7 Accessories software, learning about the different features of the Start menu and how to customize your desktop.

Night 3 & 4: Intro to Word

Topics include: cut/copy & paste, save & save as, close, open, toolbars, templates, bullets & numbered lists, spell check & thesaurus, page setup, print preview and print options.

Night 5: Intro to Excel

Topics include (depending on time): entering labels & data, simple formulas, formatting including auto format, editing: cut/copy & paste; fill series; find & replace; spell check, page, setup and printing.

Windows 7

Time:                     6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Location:              Adult Learning Centre, Classroom #1

Fee:                       $80.00

Weekends: Nov 29 & 30 – 10:00 AM – 4:30PM

 

 

LEARNING WINDOWS 8                                                                         (4 hours)

Have you made the transition to Windows 8 and are struggling to get adjusted to the new feature set? This class will cover the major differences between Windows 7 and Windows 8 and help you get set up on your new Windows 8 computer. Prior computer knowledge or Introduction to Computers is required.
